Building Something Better.
Five Things Friday—
1. Last summer, I spent a week meditating with over 2000 people in a gigantic ballroom led by Dr. Joe Dispenza. During one of the meditations, loud laughter broke through the dark silence. One person, unrestrained. Then, after a few minutes, another person started laughing. Then another and another.
2. My eyes were closed, and the room was vast. They felt far away and I was undisturbed, as if I were listening to bells ringing from a distance. I was deep in meditation, and it was surreal to hear and feel the wave of laughter begin to grow. It began to spread from several epicenters scattered throughout the room with concentric circles reaching further and further until finally, one of them swept over me like a wave.
3. All at once, I was completely overcome by large belly laughs, and I was swept up by a joy too big for my body. Eventually, the waves swept over the entire room with explosive laughter that continued for several minutes…until our bodies and bellies ached with the feeling of release.
4. As I watch the world awaken, I keep coming back to this moment and the memory of it in my body. I feel like awakening is happening in the same way. It begins small—you’ll feel like the only one—but then your sphere will widen, and the concentric circles will overlap, forming bigger and bigger waves until everyone is awake.
5. It’s already happening. I see it in our activism; in our discontent; in our willingness to stand up to corruption and greed. And as difficult as it is to see the truth of our broken systems, there is power in seeing. Soon, our awareness will overcome the perceived power of a few, and they’ll be drowned out by our collective joy. Stay steady in your center. We’re on our way to building something better.
Always only love,
e.
